About the project

Goodwin Village is a contemporary retirement living development in Downer, ACT, designed to create a vibrant community while delivering high-quality homes that support comfort and wellbeing. Designed by CK Architecture (Aus) and installed by Eifer, the project balances modern living requirements with a warm, welcoming architectural character that responds to its Canberra surroundings.

Design Intent

The design vision for Goodwin Village was to create a residential environment that feels connected to its landscape and community. Drawing inspiration from natural materials and the surrounding environment, the facade palette was carefully selected to deliver warmth, permanence and a strong sense of place.

A key objective was to combine complementary façade systems to introduce texture, contrast and visual depth while maintaining a cohesive architectural expression across the multi-storey development.

Outcome

Fairview supplied more than 4,500m² of facade materials, including 3,500m² of Clayton Terrain Natural Red, alongside Genesis Raw Basalt Grey and Vitradual Monument Grey.

The rich terracotta tones of Clayton form the dominant architectural element, wrapping the building in continuous horizontal courses that create a grounded and enduring presence. Inspired by natural clay masonry, the finish establishes a strong connection to the surrounding landscape while introducing warmth and character to the development.

Genesis Raw Basalt Grey provides contrast and definition to balcony areas, while Vitradual Monument Grey contributes clean detailing and contemporary refinement. Together, the three materials create a layered facade composition that balances texture, colour and scale, helping the development sit comfortably within Canberra's evolving urban landscape.
