About the project
As part of the METRONET Armadale Line Extension, Byford Railway Station marks a significant milestone in Western Australia’s growing transport network. Extending the rail line approximately eight kilometres south, the project enhances connectivity for one of the nation’s fastest-growing regions while setting a new benchmark in contemporary rail infrastructure design.
The façade features 3,300 m² of Smartbric in a carefully curated palette of Terrain, Rust, Copper and Spice, chosen to reflect the area’s natural landscape and community character. The blend of earthy tones introduces depth and warmth, creating a visual dialogue between the station’s built form and its regional surroundings.
Beyond its visual appeal, Smartbric provides the technical performance required for large-scale public transport environments. The system’s modular design and robust construction deliver durability, design flexibility and ease of installation, ensuring a façade solution that is both enduring and efficient.
Byford Railway Station stands as a showcase of how contemporary cladding technology can enhance architectural expression while meeting the practical demands of public infrastructure.
