SafeClad is a series of training programs offered by the Master Builders Association in consultation with Fairview. The aim of the courses is to assist our industry in addressing the challenging issues with combustible façades. SafeClad also provides the industry’s first accreditation service for Aluminium Panel installers.

The Master Builder’s SafeClad programs currently include two structured courses:

The Awareness course is a 3 hour session that has been designed specifically f0r commercial builders, developers, project managers, architects and engineers who are engaged in construction projects where aluminium-based cladding is, or may be, installed.

Attendees are provided with a detailed overview of the features of a fully compliant wall build-up including aluminium cladding and the required installation practices for this product. They will also learn about industry best practice installation methods; how to identify symptoms of defective work; understanding the risks of unsafe practices as well as an understanding of the Australian Standards and BCA requirements for cladding.

Formal CPD Points = 3

The Assessment course is open to installers or subcontractors who are currently working with or have prior experience of working with aluminium cladding panels. This training takes place in a simulated environment observed by an MBA Assessor.

The course is designed to test the knowledge and practical application when installing aluminium cladding panels and how to ensure the installation of a fully compliant wall build-up. Installers will be given a cladding project that they will work on during the session under the observation of the MBA Assessor. There will also be written knowledge questions. A result will be given at the end of the day, based on both the practical and knowledge components completed during the training.

Please note that this assessment process assumes that the participant has recent experience in installing this type of cladding and is interested in having that experience formally acknowledged. There is no gap training offered as part of the assessment day.

Formal CPD Points = 7
