Fairview projects shortlisted for 2016 AIA Awards

Two projects featuring Vitrabond have been shortlisted for the 2016 AIA Architecture State Awards: Swanston Square, located in Carlton, Victoria and constructed on the former Carlton Brewery, and Harbour Mill Apartments, which has been constructed on the historically significant site of the Edwin Davey & Sons Flour Mill in Pyrmont, NSW.

Swanston Square is a multi-cultural apartment complex that is well-known for its vivid carpark façade and external curved complex panels that makes it stand out from the crowd.  The colourful heat-map façade featured on one side of the building was supplied by Fairview using 18 different shades of Vitrabond. The project; which was designed by ARM Architecture is shortlisted for the 2016 Victorian Architecture Awards under the category of Residential Architecture, Multiple Housing.

Harbour Mill Apartments; located on one of Sydney’s longest serving flour mills, combines over 3,000m2 of Vitrabond for the new aspect of the project which sits within the remaining walls of the Mill. Designed by Grimshaw Architects; the Pyrmont based mixed-use development is shortlisted under the category of Urban Design for the NSW Architecture Awards.

Winners of the State Awards will be announced at a presentation event on the 24 June. Category winners will then proceed to the National Architecture Awards; which are expected to be held at the end of this year.
